Litigation Support: PFAS in a Public Water Treatment Facility

We provided litigation support to a confidential client in a case involving PFAS present in a publicly-owned water treatment plant. Our engineers and chemists evaluated PFAS concentrations in influent and effluent streams and evaluated potential risks to consumers and the environment. Our expertise helped determine potential PFAS sources, leading to recommend treatment methods to mitigate the PFAS in wastewater at a nearby industrial source. Our engineers developed cost estimates for a treatment system designed to remove PFAS—including an evaluation of different disposal options for wastewater treatment sludges containing PFAS. Our technical assessments and cost estimates were used by the client in successful settlement negotiations.
